We need men! - update

Thank you very much for all reactions so far on the statement: "We need the input and commitment of men to realise a colorful and equal world for all."

Of course the Worldconnectors' next question is:

"WHAT DO YOU DO TO GET MORE WOMEN BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL?"

We are looking forward to your input!

On behalf of the Worldconnectors support team,
Anne-Katrien

"We need the input and commitment of men to realize a colorful and equal world for all".
This is a great and wise statement. It is calling for a " COLORFUL AND EQUAL WORLD FOR ALL". A world where racism, sexism, injustice, misogyny, misandry and machismo won't have a room. A world full of love ,peace and purpose where men and women won't be blaming one another but will work together to make life easier for everyone so that we all can make this world much better than we found it.Yes,both men and women need one another,no one should claim to be better than the other. As the saying goes,"next to every successful man there is a wise and supportive woman". One is a champion, the other is a coach. It is a matter of head and heart depending on each other, not one person's show.
And while the input and commitment of men is highly needed,I wonder if all women are committed to this kind of world.
Let us hope that the above statement doesn't imply that it is men who are hindering the Colorful and Equal World For All. May GOD of Peace help us all and bless our efforts.
There is hope!

I agree with the statement and with you Thomas.

Women cannot achieve gender equality without the cooperation and participation of men.

Men as a community, organization, and state leader or indeed as husband and father, often wield enormous power over many aspects of woman lives.

As a woman, we need them to work equally to defend gender equality rights. Men need to be involved to reach gender equality. We need to work together!

so, invite more men to this global discussion! Why are there mostly women at the CSW in NY next week? So, to all the women bring a man (or invite a man in this discussion) to the Women inc. festival next week.

We need to stop whining about the hard life of a woman, and starting taking all the responsibility we have for ourselves. Men can help us learn another type of behaviour, necessary to conquer the world.

At the same time, I came to the conclusion that we need 2000 years of female dominance to straighten up the difference...

Re: We need men!

You can have equal rights written in the constitution, but in practice, men and women worldwide are equal only if they also experience the equality. It is difficult to convince a woman that she is allowed and able to act the same as her father, husband, sons and brothers when she has been taught her entire life that she must ask permission for each action and that she must obey to men at all times. These men play a pivotal role here. To them the task to let women in their value and to let them grow self-confidence. To learn their daughters to deal with freedom, not to live to serve the man. If the man feels that the situation, as now in many countries in the world, without equal rights for men and women, is already good enough, there will be no change.

We need men if men are ready to make a large change and
keep that change, so we will have equal gender right.
That is what we need to have if we talk about that we need men.

I enjoy Brahma Kumaris Spiritual Academy being run by women only and The Hunger Project aiming to end world hunger focussing on the role of women. Whatever we do, holistic approaches are best and men need to be included.

We need women more!

Yes, we need men.. But we need women more. We cannot change this world without men, it would be naïve to exclude men from any future changes we wish to make. But, when looking at the global crisis in the world today we should not forget the dominant gender of the leaders that have brought us to this situation. I therefore think it would be good if a few women would stand up to fundamentally change the world.

Hallo Anne-Katrien!
Just to answer the question,"WHAT DO YOU TO GET MORE WOMEN BEHIND THE STEERING".
I think every woman needs LOVE, APPRECIATION, RECOGNITION, RESPECT and SECURITY.
If women are convinced that they will get those things in the "COLORFUL AND EQUAL WORLD FOR ALL", I think they can be greatly motivated to be behind the steering. In other words every woman needs to know the benefits this kind of world will offer her.
I would also strongly recommend every woman to read the lyrics of the song called "INSTRUMENTS OF PEACE" by KIRK and DEBY DEARMAN.
I am sure any woman who would listen to a such song and meditate on it would work hard not just to be part and parcel of this "colorful and equal world for all" but also to bring in it as many women and men as possible.

Re: We need men! - update

Thank you Madam Anne-Katrien Denissen,

At last I found it Women Festival Inc. 6 March 2010 in Amsterdam, I meet the Director Madam of Women Inc. and asked about you, she opened the festival with a wonderful speech. This is the day in progress to global women rights towards 50% equal rights to men dominated world-power while I felt at this stage it is only 17% working force from women as the Chairman of KPN & Director of Microsoft Nederland has mentioned.

It is quit understood by my political research that women participation must reach 50% as well to men participation in all political & business state-of-affairs to meet the balance of global-power while it is missing in action since the 2nd world-war draining innocent blood in lied-war and terrorism while veto power is not democracy nor fair-freedom but dictatorship.

Let us hope for the best for a green mother earth run by collective men & women 50%:50% not by a dictatorial-state nor by dictatorial-president or king or Queen to make our Globe of Peaceful Haven as God/Allah promised!

Yes I enjoyed the talk show & Hoofd-doek 1000 euro belasting drama! PeaceMan !

This is a nice and wise statement.
Of course women need men to combine their strengh to make the world a better place.
For the case of my country the BURKINA FASO (west Africa), on February, there was a meeting of leaders women, parliamentary women and the frames of the political parties.
It aimed at strengthening the capacities of the women leaders,to improve their effective contribution in favour of a governance centred more on the poor men.
At the end of this meeting the women will be equipped with knowledge and they can help the men to re-yield on the axes of development and of the blow to fight against the plagues which mine their country as the poverty, the drought, the crime, the famine etc.
Thank you Anne-Katrien for your subject wise.

Dear Anne,

Not forgetting the fact that since the days of creation both sex were peered and not let ALONE exist in the first place! And even though one side of the sexs served as the way of defeat in humanity, they were always together up to this present, and so will it be till internity!

In this sence, I see it very and vitally possitive to get women behind the driving wheels which must be done by encouragements, directions, leadings, education, based on TRUTH and more over LOVE!
And I think, only MEN are NEEDED to get MORE WOMEN BEHIND THE WHEELS!

So if you ask me, my answer will be a very big YES to WE NEED MEN!

Re: We need men! - update

This I must admit is quite an interesting issue and perhaps one that must be addressed for society to advance. I agree that we need men and I want to add that men need women. As I type this, I am thinking about my country Kenya and the struggle for affirmative action amongst other gender equality/equity instruments and/or systems. I am particularly inclined to the current constitutional review process that has been going on and that is advancing towards a very decisive moment - the referendum - on 4th August 2010. Entrenched in the proposed constitution are numerous gains for women including the 1/3 principle of affirmative action. To the dismay of we in the women movement, alot of men (especially in the rural areas) have a serious problem with the women gains as they stand. Some of these very thorny provisions include the right to inheritance for female children from their parents. I do not know why we never look at women empowerment as a benefit for society because perhaps if we did then we would understand the need for provisions like affirmative action. My point is, women emancipation is of great benefit to men and the men need to realize that the conscious effort made by governments and other stakeholders to uplift women will only make life better for the whole society. We need men and men need women.

According to Aude Zieseniss de Thuin, President and Founder of
The Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society “ We cannot build a world which is livable if it walks only on one foot—
continuing to neglect, by obscure prejudices, 50 percent of the talent,
skill, and energy available.”
In line with the above statement, I passionately feel that the degree of committment to the development agenda should be measured by the extent to which men all over the world are willing to push the girl and women empowerment agenda. We could practically start at the UN level and have a woman Secretary General for a change (talk of leading by example!).

I am of the view that ongoing dialogue between genders is important as to understand that there should be mutual support for each other. Each has strength to bring on the table and the difference in biological features must not be seen as a maojor difference and a point of conflict, but rather as complimentary to each. Human dignity is uphold by all irrespective of gender or sexual orientation by virtue of being human. Each person is unique and has something unique to contribute to humanity if space is created.

Yes truely we need men ,MEN of great value with true vission to lead humanity ; men concious of what it takes to give life a true meaning,men who can clearly distinguish between our limitations and rights, men who will not mislead us into unGodly practices, those who can sustain what Martin Lurther , Ghandi ,Mother Teresia died for;
Men who share in the sufferings of others , void of corruption and who stand for the TRUTH;
Men who can initiate true and sustainable development, men who believe and accept peace as the option because "Peace is FRIENDSHIP".
The world need men who add SMILES to the faces of many.

For the positive change of this World, men and women are called to combine their strengths. What threats the woman's stability threats too the man's stability. The world cannot progress if the men and the women are not working in a complementary manner.

I agree with all the views of my coleagues. In my own opinion i think we need both men and women to partner in developmental issues. Some women are influential, pragmatic, intelligent and can drive the economy of a country. Whilst in other circles of life we see men failing to run and drive the economy of the country but great women have stood firmly and contributed fully to the economies of their country.

Some men also have done tremendous jobs in improving and driving the wheels of the economy of their countries. So in order to balance in he developmental issues of our countries we need both men and women who are not egocentric, those who can sacrifice for the benefit of their nations.
