better knowledge, better decision making, better health

To all the visitors of this forum:
The availability of impartial, reliable and accurate health information (both related to incidence and to spending) is an essential instrument for the formulation of national health policies worldwide. In order to formulate adequate health policies not only accurate information is needed but its rigorous analysis and management is also crucial to lay the grounds for well-documented, coherent and stronger public health policies. As a health group we saw that in many developing countries there is a history of poor data collection and analysis and that this lack or insufficiency of information management constitutes an obstacle for well-documented and fact-based health policies in these countries.

An impartial, well functioning and credible system of health reporting is instrumental to analyse, manage and share medical information, that can be used by policy makers to formulate coherent and stronger national plans. Such a system would also benefit international bodies such as the WHO, the World Bank and bilateral agencies to better formulate their development policies.

Independent and well functioning national based systems of health reporting is essential. It can improve national health policies and strengthen public health systems. It can contribute to the achievement of the health related MDGs and largely benefit the fight against AIDS. It can serve as an advocacy tool for civil society, advocates and lobbyists working on the health sector, both nationally and internationally. It can promote the quality of international development and global health policies. It can boost transparency and accountability of national health systems and, contribute to the democratic process in a country.

Better knowledge
Better decision-making
Better health
